Coatings and Fillers

Barium Chloride

CAS NO: 10326-27-9

In industry, Barium Chloride is used in the manufacture of pigments.

Barium Sulphate

CAS NO: 7727-43-7

In the paint and varnish industry, high-quality barium sulphate is used as filler mainly due to its inertness and high density. It improves the volume and consistency, viscosity, and workability of e.g., fillers, surfacers, and primers.

Bentonite Clay

CAS NO: 1302-78-9

Bentonite is in high demand for paint production because of its properties such as strong thickening ability (often used as a thickener for solvent and water-based paints), suspending, good thixotropy, high viscosity, anti-sagging.

Calcium Carbonate

CAS NO: 1317-65-3

Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is commonly used in several paint and coating applications. It is used as an extender, an agent to either reduce or enhance gloss, an extender / spacer for titanium dioxide, a rheology modifier and as a paint and coating additive to densify the product.

Copper Carbonate

CAS NO: 12069-69-1

Copper carbonate is often used as a pigment in products, paints, and varnishes. Copper carbonate is used in artist paints to obtain desired colors for which it is also known with different names such as verditer and mountain green. Also used for wood treatment.

Copper Oxide

CAS NO: 1317-38-0

Copper oxide is commonly used as a pigment, a fungicide, and an antifouling agent for marine paints.

Dolomite

CAS NO: 69227-00-5

Dolomite is magnesium calcium carbonate, which is generally used in paint as a filler. Dolomite is a hard mineral; thus, it imparts very good scrub resistance to the paint. It is a white extender, which does not interfere with paint colour and give opaqueness to paint film.

Iron Oxide – Micaceous

Micaceous iron oxide imparts unique properties to paints and coatings because the flaky particles align in such a way as to resist penetration by moisture and gases. These coatings can prevent corrosion and rusting of metals and also resist blistering, cracking and peeling.

Iron Oxide – Natural

CAS NO: 1317-60-8

Natural iron oxide pigments can be used to colour a variety of coatings to protect material and colour, external walls including waterborne coatings, powder coatings, etc.; It also can be used in paint including epoxy resin, alkyd, amino and all kinds of primers and paint; it can also be used for toy paint, decoration paint, furniture paint, electrophoresis paint and enamel. Iron oxide red primer has an antirust function, and it can be used to replace expensive red lead paint

Iron Oxide Synthetic

CAS NO: 1309-37-1

Thebuilding materials industry is the biggest user of Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigments. Uses include colouring concrete and mortar because of their good dispersibility and good tinting strength. They are extensively used in the manufacture of Paving Blocks, Chequered Tiles, Designer Tiles, Stamped Concrete etc.

The paints industry is the second largest user of Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigments. Most paint applications require the use of micronized and dispersible grades of pigments to get optimum colouring effects and maintain paint film strength.

Pigments used in Plastics need high purity, tinting strength, high heat resistance and good dispersibility.

Magnesium Carbonate

CAS NO: 546-93-0

Light Magnesium Carbonate is used in all types of paints as a mineral filler. Used to stiffen ink and reduce gloss level. It becomes transparent once added to ink and so doesn´t affect colour. Can be used for both relief and etching inks.

Magnesium Fluorosilicate

CAS NO: 16949-65-8

Magnesium fluorosilicate is used for surface treatments, and as preservative of wood.

Magnesium Oxide

CAS NO: 1309-48-4

High purity magnesium oxide can be used as filler in paints, paper and cosmetics, filler and reinforcing agent in plastics and rubber and auxiliary material in various electronic materials due to its high dispersibility.

Magnesium oxides are commonly used as pigment extenders. They also reduce reliance on using titanium dioxide as an absorbent and opacifying agent.

In the ink industry, magnesium oxide is used in offset gravure printing ink to produce a primary vehicle.

Magnetite

CAS NO: 1332-37-2

As a black oxide pigment, magnetite has been used as a colouring agent in paints for cooking furnaces, chimneys, ovens, stoves, floor coatings, steam generation equipment such as boilers, powder coatings, coil coatings, heat shrink applications.

Manganese Dioxide

CAS NO: 1313-13-9

Both natural and synthetic manganese dioxides have been used for paint pigments and as a colourant in mortar. Manganese dioxide is also used as a primary drier in paints.

Potassium Bifluoride

CAS NO: 7789-29-9

Potassium bifluoride is commonly used in the manufacture of wood preservatives.

Silica

CAS NO: 14807-96-6

Silica flour is used in paints and coatings to improve the overall look and durability of the paint. Silica fillers improve paint’s tint reduction and dirt resistance, and because of silica flour’s oil-absorption properties it makes a durable coating that’s rich in pigment and resistant to wear and tear.

Talc

CAS NO: 14807 96-6

Talc increases coverage and weather resistance of the products. The use of talc creates a barrier effect, which limits the penetration of water and corrosive agents into paints and coatings. These properties lead to a reduction in bubble formation, corrosion and peeling.

Titanium Dioxide

CAS NO: 13463-67-7

The two most common forms of titanium dioxide are Anatase and Rutile grades.

Titanium dioxide is the most common white pigment. It is very durable and has good covering properties.

Rutile grade titanium dioxide pigments are preferred because they scatter light more efficiently, are more stable and are more durable than anatase pigments.

Wollastonite

CAS NO: 13983-17-0

Wollastonite is used as a reinforcement material in plastics and paint films. It is also used as a white pigment for aesthetics. Its improved physical properties (hardness, ductility, toughness, corrosion resistance and brittleness) make it a viable material in paints or coatings, plastic, and friction application industries.

Because of its high melting point, wollastonite is used in high temperature coatings for thermal stability and high pH to allow it to act as a pH buffer for in-can paint stability.

Zinc Oxide

CAS NO: 1314-13-2

Zinc Oxide is the principal white pigment commonly known as zinc white or Chinese white.

It is one of the most important ingredients in paint and is used primarily in primers and exterior paints, Zinc Oxide provides mildew resistance, corrosion inhibition, and stain blocking support.
